“You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you proclaim the excellence of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light”. ~ 1 Peter 2:9
We serve a God who is always and forever with us. We are His and He is ours. We have all that He says we have and we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength.” ~ Amen
When I got up this morning and saw this scripture passage and meditation posted on Vanessa Wilson’s Facebook page, I was inspired. Reminded again of God’s goodness and His promise to be with us always and forever, I know that I never walk alone.
With Him by my side, as well as in front and back of me, how can I fail? Yet I still have moments of fear. And as ridiculous as it sounds, those moments are driven by a fear of not having enough or being enough for someone else. Are you kidding me? How stupid that is!!
Nevertheless, it is real and I so need to hear God yell this into these ears of mine and break through my barriers.
Fortunately, God always does break through. Just when I think all is lost, whether that is dealing with family or work, I discover the hand of God working in my life. God is constantly blessing me and our church.
The word of God, Scripture, has become more and more a need of mine. The stories in the Old Testament of God’s people failing God and God picking them up and sending them on the way, is my story. The God in Jesus Christ, who loved all, and I mean all, is my story. How can one even think that God has abandoned them? Yet we do.
At Christ the Lord, we are going through a self-evaluation of our ministry. It has been a blessing. I am learning so much. The one positive thing that just over takes me at times is how much God has given to us and sent to us. We are in a growth spurt as a congregation. We are scrambling a bit to catch up with all that God has blessed us with. But that is a great problem to have. We are running hither and yonder and my brain is in full throttle. It is a rush.
I want to you know, members of Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, you make my day! I feel sometimes we may not do as good a job as we can at getting you involved in the life of the church, but know this; I am hot on that scent. When I get focused I don’t stop until the job is done. If you can do me a favor, if you would like to participate in the church or have a question about our ministry, or have a desire to serve in a ministry, email me personally. I want to hear from you and answer any question you may have. I want to connect you to one another.
We have certainly had our share of deaths this year and I grieve them. But I am fully aware that God is continually leading new people to us. As a community of faith it is important that we get to know one another. No, I don’t remember names that well, but I don’t forget a face. But it is not about me. It is about us. I want you to know US.
These are great days for our church and I think we are getting better at what we do. I ask, until I get this all done, work with me. Not for my sake but for the sake of Jesus Christ. God has brought us together so let us take the time to introduce ourselves to one another and be blessed by the great fellowship that God has given to us.
As always, thank for all you do and may God bless us all.
