The annual Men’s Retreat will be held May 4, 5, and 6 – The retreat starts the evening of Friday, May 4, and ends at noon of the 6th at Tanglewood Cabins in Helen, Georgia. This is a great fellowship event for men to come together – laugh, eat, and pray together.

Last year’s cost was $130. It should be very close to this cost.

Every spring, the men of Christ the Lord and their friends gather for a weekend of fun, fellowship and devotion. We start the gathering with a wonderful homemade meal on Friday night, spending the evening relaxing and recovering from the week, then rise to a luscious breakfast on Saturday morning. For a couple of hours, Pastor Mitchell leads a devotion and a time for reflection. The rest of the day is free for everyone to do as they please. Some tour Helen, others fish, some sleep, a few read, a handful hike, and some wander off and just come back at about 5 p.m. for the traditional waffle ball tournament. A huge meal is served up off the grill and we all munch down. The evening is spent playing games both indoor and outdoors and checking what is on the tube. Sunday morning we awaken to another wonderful breakfast and close the weekend with a worship and communion service. Pictures are made, awards are given out, and everyone travels home. For several years, we have worked at getting the right formula for this event and we think we might have found it. You might ask if there is room for you. Our philosophy is that there is always room for one more. Hope you will join us.

The retreat leans more in the direction of fellowship than education. We do have a Saturday morning devotional but much of the time is spent going into Helen, Georgia, fishing, hiking, golfing, eating, hanging at the lodge, corn hole games, seeing who can hit the whiffle golf ball the farthest, bonfires, reading, sleeping away the day and whatever you had in mind to relax. It is a great get away with some awesome guys. Ronnie Casteel was the first one to sign up. If you plan to attend, please let Pastor Mitchell know as soon as possible before the cabins are full. Already 28 men have signed up!
