Dance in worship has existed since the time of David;
“David danced before the LORD with all his might”, 2 Samuel 6:14. The Bible invites us to “praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp”, Psalm 149, vs. 3.
Liturgical, Praise or Worship Dance involves a personal expression of faith and interpretation of the word. Through the dancers’ movements, the congregation visually experiences an inspired interpretation of the liturgy and church music. Worship dancers are called by God to be His instruments, and they dance for an audience of One.
The Aurora Glory Dancers present worship dances during the 9:00 and 10:00 services one Sunday each month during the fall and spring. They also present several dances during CTL’s annual Advent Program, which is typically the first Sunday evening in December.
Ms. Martha is a missionary with Christ the Lord Lutheran Church and has been involved with dance and musical theater since the age of 5. Martha and her husband John have been members of CTL since 1997. In 2000, Martha founded the Aurora Glory Dancers at CTL, and has danced regularly ever since in church services, nursing homes and weddings. By day, Martha is a scheduling coordinator at Georgia Gwinnett College. She has 3 grown sons and one grandson, Aden, who lives in Boston, MA.
