Outreach Ministries

Members of Christ the Lord are active in reaching out to meet the needs of our community. We’ve done projects including building a house with Habitat for Humanity, Thrivent Builds, and Gwinnett County Lutheran Churches; working in hurricane recovery through Bethel Lutheran in Biloxi, and mission trips to Mexico.  We support the Lawrenceville Co-op, the Partners Against Domestic Violence Women’s Shelter, and the senior citizens of our community.

As a congregation, we also send benevolence support to the Southeastern Synod, and to Lutheran Services of Georgia, the ELCA World Hunger Appeal, and Lutheran World Relief. God has touched many lives through this congregation’s generosity! Watch the bulletin or web page to learn of ways you can touch people’s lives with the healing hope of the Gospel.

The Lawrenceville Co-Op serves the citizens of Lawrenceville and Dacula in Gwinnett County, Georgia. Their ministry seeks to preserve their clients’ dignity while encouraging self-responsibility and spiritual growth. They strive to create a cooperative relationship between area agencies and churches and serve as a clearinghouse to screen needs and to make the most effective use of resources.

They assist those in need by providing food, limited money for utilities and prescription drugs. They also offer assistance by connecting those in need with various helping sources in the community. They seek to help clients identify ways to achieve self-sufficiency. Please consider adding $1, $5, or more every time you write an offering check and earmarking it for the Co-Op. If everyone gives just a little, it will add up to help a lot of people! This is another opportunity to show we are truly Caring People Caring For People.

Thanks to all those who have been giving so generously to the Lawrenceville Co-Op this fall. Over 1,000 families are being helped each month. With cold weather arriving earlier than normal, it’s expected that more people will be seeking help with groceries and utility bills.

In addition to the continuing need for food and money donations, the Co-Op can also use additional volunteers. If you’d like to consider volunteering to work at the Co-Op, there will be a Volunteer Orientation Session monthly for you to learn more about what would be involved. They are at 7 pm on the third Thursday of the month at the Co-Op. The Co-Op is located at 176 Church Street, downtown Lawrenceville behind the City Hall off of South Clayton Street. Volunteering at the Co-Op is a blessed experience as you are God’s hands to many people in need.
