“Mental Wellness at the Holidays”
On Saturday, December 4, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., the CARE Team at Christ the Lord will sponsor an informational forum and support group for anyone who is grieving at this time of the year. Pronounced grief during the holiday season is very real for many people. We will talk about both caring for those who are grieving and self-care during the sometimes not-so jolly holiday season. Grief includes, but is not limited to: death of a friend or family member, divorce or struggling relationship, loss of a job, sustained unemployment. If you or someone you love has faced a significant loss this year, please mark your calendar and plan to attend. There is no cost for the forum.
The CARE Team of Christ the Lord meets every other month on Saturday mornings. The group checks-in with caregivers about people they are visiting; signs and sends cards of encouragement to shut-ins; and enjoys various educational opportunities.
Caregivers are matched with those who need a caring presence and they keep in touch with that person by phone or regular visits. The time commitment depends on the caregiver and the needs of the person they are helping. Just a phone call to someone who is ill or shut-in can make a world of difference!
