No need to travel far to do mission work for God’s people. Our refugee team works with World Relief to help refugees that they bring in to this country. These people come from terrible conditions and very often have never seen a toilet or slept on more than a mat on the floor. When they first arrive, they need to learn everything, and it’s amazing how well they learn. In return for our time, we learn to appreciate how resilient people can be, and we enjoy their successes with them.
Update on Iraqi Refugee Ministry
Back to school items are needed for refugee children in elementary, middle and high school. The items needed are: books, pencils, pens, markers, notebooks, folders with brackets and pockets, crayons, glue and glue sticks, rulers, erasers, pencil bags, etc. Especially needed are new or gently used book-bags. Place donations in the box, labeled “school supplies” in the narthex at church.
Items still needed: school supplies, computers or laptops for teenagers for school, TV to help with English.
