Join Us for Easter Breakfast

Easter Pancake Breakfast - Sunday, April 8 - 7:30 to 11:00 a.m. - CTL Fellowship Hall

Join us Easter morning for a delicious pancake breakfast served by the Christ the Lord Youth as we celebrate together the joyous resurrection of Christ. A donation will be collected to support our youth attending the ELCA National Youth Gathering in New Orleans this summer.

Yard Sale Time Again – National Youth Gathering Fundraiser

What: The youth at Christ the Lord will host a yard sale to benefit the National Youth Gathering.

When: The Yard Sale will be Saturday, March 24, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Drop off: Drop off any donations, you have for the sale, at the church from 8 a.m. to noon on the following Sundays: January 29, February 26, and March 18. No clothing please.

Big Items: Contact Jerry Baumgartto arrange for pick-up of large items.

Final Yard Sale Drop-Off Date - Sunday, March 18

Yard sale donations are still needed for our big community yard sale later this month. Our final drop-off date will be Sunday, March 18, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. We are looking for house wares, baby items, yard items, tools, toys, small appliances, furniture and so much more. No clothing please. You can arrange the pick up of large items with Jerry Baumgart. All proceeds from this event will benefit our youth attending the ELCA National Youth Gathering in New Orleans this summer.

Imagine worshiping with 33,000 Lutherans under one roof!   Lutheran youth from ALL over the WORLD gather once every three years at this event, worshiping, serving and learning together;  This is an event you don’t want to miss!

CTL YOUTH HEADED TO THE BIG EASY

In July of 2012 dozens of CTL Youth will join together with more than 36,000 other Lutheran youth from around the country in New Orleans for the 2012 ELCA Youth Gathering. This event is held every three years with the vision for Lutheran youth to dwell together as “one new humanity,” remembering who they are in Christ and acting in response by forming faithful, wise and courageous leaders who will:

  • Live among God’s faithful people,
  • Hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s supper,
  • Proclaim the good news of God in Christ through words and deed,
  • Serve all people, following the example of Jesus,
  • Strive for justice and peace in all the earth.

The 2012 ELCA Youth Gathering, a unique community by size and scope, serves as a distinctive sign of the ELCA’s evangelical mission as it works with synods and congregations to accompany young people in their faith journey to understand their vocation and articulate their faith in Jesus Christ. Participants will actively practice discipleship, peacemaking, and justice during their time together.

We encourage members of our congregation and community to learn more about this great event and help us support our youth as they work to raise the funds to attend this amazing event that allows them to live out their faith like never before. The cost for our youth to attend this event is estimated to be $25,000.  As you can imagine, they have lots of exciting  fundraising events planned in the months ahead, so be watching for more details.  If you are interested in offering scholarship funds to help enable our youth to go, please place your gifts in the offering plate labeled “ELCA Youth Gathering Scholarship.”
