Adopt a College Student

We support our college-age youth and brighten their day. This is a great service project for individuals, Sunday School classes, confirmation classes or any other fellowship group wanting to participate. How? Pick-up and sign-out a box that is labeled for a student. Then fill the boxes with items of your choosing, i.e. homemade cookies, brownies, a personal note. An ideas sheet will also be attached to each box. Then take the box to the post office and ship it off. It’s easy as that! Boxes are available for pick-up at the display in the narthex in October each year. Express your interest or request information via this form.

Angel Tree

Share your Christmas joy with families going through difficult times by participating in this year’s “Angel Tree” project. Christ the Lord’s Outreach Ministry assists local families with gifts and food during Christmas. Beginning in November you may choose an angel from our angel tree located in the narthex at Christ the Lord.  Each angel represents a request for a toy, clothing, household item, or gift card for food for an angel tree family.

Blessings of the Animals

blessing-of-animalsPlease join us in our annual celebration of our companion animals. Everyone is welcome to come and get their pets blessed. If your pet would not enjoy the outing, you can take a blessing home to them. Meet rescue groups and pet friendly services; and enjoy fellowship with other pet lovers in our community. If you would like to help with the event, or have any questions, please contact Sue Schroer.

Brookdale Assisted Living

Care Team

The team assists when we need meals, transportation, etc. to help another member of our congregation. During this time, we have added and lost a few of the members, so we are inviting again members to join this critical care team. It has been a lifesaver to some of our families who have returned home from the hospital and had no one else to turn to.  Different members of the team help according to their situation.

Knit to wrap in love and prayersPrayer Shawl Ministry

Anyone who loves to knit or crochet can take part in our Prayer Shawl and Baptismal Shawl Ministry.  The prayer shawls are knit or crocheted with love and prayers and delivered to our hospital sick or home shut ins.  The Baptismal shawls are presented to the families during infant baptisms allowing the babies to be wrapped in love and support from the congregation. This is one of the many caring and compassionate ministries of our church.

In an effort to reach out into our community, we have extended this ministry to Chemo Caps and scarves for cancer patients and newborn baby caps which are donated to Gwinnett Medical Center Women’s Pavilion. These items do not require a great deal of time, but the warmth and love that they give is endless. The wonderful thing about this ministry is the fact that you can enjoy staying in your homes, and be part of the outreach that extends the love of Jesus.

Shawl patterns and cleaning instructions are available but use your own patterns if you wish.  Any questions a
bout this ministry or for more information contact Juanita.

RRed Crossed Cross Blood Drive

Every two seconds someone in the U.S. receives a blood transfusion. The Red Cross needs 25,000 people nationally to donate blood each day to serve patients in need. Each unit of blood can help up to three people.  The need for blood is constant. There is NO substitute for blood. If you are healthy and have not given blood in the last 56 days, you need to roll up your sleeve and give. It doesn’t cost you anything and you can help so many. Please eat a good breakfast and drink a couple glasses of water before coming to church when we have our blood drive. Come prepared to donate the gift of life. Be sure to bring your ID and your donor card with you. Contact Donna Anderson for information.
